HANDwert mehrWERK, that was the title of our cluster event. On September 16, the Visionskultur Community welcomed everyone interested to the Creative Hub to exchange ideas on exciting topics relating to the trades.
In the foyer, visitors were greeted by a presentation on urban production, with the guiding question: „Is such a transformation an opportunity for more employment?“ Curious? Then take a look at our blog post on the exhibition!
Alongside a series of informative presentations by the exhibitors in the Hub Café, including the Youth Employment Agency, the Chamber of Trades and the adult education centre, there was the finest coffee from Café Tecu (@cafetecu).
The Creative Hub is a meeting place, and so several projects, such as Anthony Kreher and Benjesmanufaktur UG, were delighted to show you their work and give you an insight into their production.
Along the process presentations that lined your way towards the workshop, several doors were also open: because together with the projects, we had planned a little craft rally for you.
And so you were able to discover four subject areas that dealt with idea generation: the focus was on product development and product realization from the fields of art and science, repair, upcycling, design and painting.
In the hands-on workshop, Heiko from the Maker Space gave you an insight into digital manufacturing in the field of small-scale furniture making and lifestyle accessories. His short workshop demonstrated integrated digital and manual production using the example of CNC wood machining. Visitors were encouraged to make their own decorative yet fully functional passive smartphone speaker from milled parts. Alongside various woodworking skills (handling fine saws and abrasives, as well as precise final assembly), the integration of digital manufacturing methods into contemporary craftwork was also explained overall. In addition, Octavio from T-Boo UG gave you a warm welcome. Expressing your creativity, getting active with your hands and creating something new? – In Octavio's workshop, individual keyrings were made from all sorts of recycled materials (fabric, sails and even bicycle inner tubes).
Furthermore, in the workshop with Rainer, you were able to listen to an introduction to bicycle repairing and, of course, roll up your sleeves and get stuck in yourself. Also taking part: the Kartellkultur, a stage was built designed to be multifunctional as a chillout area and performance platform and can be used for future events.
The main focus was, of course, very clear: having fun together and staying curious!

Led by the Managing Director Marc Fucke, Kai Stührenberg (State Secretary for Labour and Europe, SWAE), Andreas Meyer (Chief Executive of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts) and Jasmina Heritani (Head of Department at the adult education centre and labour market policy spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group) discussed
The skills shortage has worsened further over the past year. The gap between open positions and available workers has widened further. This trend is likely to intensify in the coming years. Not only are new future tasks, such as tackling climate change, ahead of us and accompanied by a corresponding demand for skilled labour, but we also face the changing demands of new generations. At the same time, the oversupply of open positions offers opportunities for creating new entry pathways into the labour market.
How must we align the regional skilled labour strategy as well as employer-side offerings and access to professions in order to strengthen and further develop the Bremen business location?
