My name is Chiara Janique Ahrens and I am the founder of Fashion Up and the fashion and accessories brand trashures. At Fashion Up, it is all about a circular textile economy. I rely on sustainable materials and craftsmanship to create unique and high-quality products.
With trashures I offer a diverse portfolio of handmade accessories and garments crafted from old and leftover textiles. Each piece is unique, created through the creative upcycling of materials such as torn jeans, leftover curtains or production waste from other designers and tailors. In doing so, I combine traditional craftsmanship with innovative design approaches to create high-quality and sustainable fashion.
Old clothes are treasures, not trash.
A special one tRachures service is the realization of custom designs and the preservation of favourite garments. Many people have an emotional attachment to their clothes and wear their favourite pieces until they fall apart. As a designer, I understand this completely and am happy to help you bring them back to life, preserving both the cut and your favourite design. Feel free to bring me a photo or the garment itself, and trashures will send it on a comeback tour. Have you captured your dream design in a photo or screenshot, or is it simply stuck in your head? Using your description, I will create your desired design in a sustainable and eco-friendly way – your personal one-off piece, just as individual as you are.
Aside from the production and sale of my products, a major focus is placed on education and awareness. In Fashion Up Atelier (currently on the first floor of the Creative Hub and mobile in Bremen and the surrounding area) I offer courses, exhibitions and lectures in which interested people can learn more about the craftsmanship, cutting techniques and design behind my pieces. The aim is to raise awareness of sustainable fashion and impart practical skills that contribute to a circular textile economy. In my workshops, participants have the opportunity to realise their own projects and learn the principles of upcycling and repairing for personal use, e.g. as a way to unwind.
Expand awareness, change reality.
With Fashion Up and trashures, I want to offer an alternative to the traditional fashion industry and make visible where the textile economy can move. I invite you to become part of this movement and discover the beauty and value of sustainable fashion.
