Dear Siegfried, you've been part of the Vision Culture Community for over a year now, what moments have been particularly memorable for you?
The special moment was the realisation that something like this exists. A place, a big house, that leaves room for people to try out their dreams and visions, to experiment with others. Where ideas can be offered and flow together from different origins, regardless of how and by whom. If necessary, you can join in or follow your own individual path.
What does community mean to you?
Space to share and exchange ideas. Space to get involved, but also to go my own way.
Can you put your vision into words? Why not describe how the vision culture helped you to develop your project?
I wanted to try something new and further. To paint with oil without the odours getting on my nerves. And I had started to work in larger formats, for which my previous studio didn't offer enough space, as I often work on paintings at the same time. The high rooms in the Hub suited me very well.
My topics always had a lot to do with my immediate life; I spent a lot of time in other countries and cultures to earn money.
I have worked closely with people who have different values to my own. I have always been interested in the differences, but above all in the interfaces between cultures. Who are we to claim that only ours are the right/better ones? Very different facets come into play that also require different expression, different formats and methods. In the larger formats, it is also easier to grasp more general aspects such as the relationship between entropy and structure in societies.
My vision would be to be able to process these topics from direct experience and to give subjective emotions space and expression in the work.
You are currently exhibiting in Berlin! (Congratulations) How did that come about? Tell us...
I had already exhibited in Berlin at the end of 2021, but in a less exposed location. But I made good contacts there, developed them further and we then made a convincing application as part of an artist collective (two artists from Berlin). However, the larger formats created in the hub were very important for this.
And last but not least: What advice would you give to new community members?
.... to stay on the path, but to question yourself openly and critically from time to time: Is the path fun? Is it my path and does it fulfil the potential I expect?
Well, that's a nice finish! So: #letzfetz
