Since 2018, nordmedia - Film- und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen mbH, together with the Senator for Economics, Labour and Europe, has been offering annual media grants for four project teams.

Scholarship provider benefits
From the funding allocation of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen at nordmedia, the scholarship teams receive a monetary amount of up to 20,000 euros for a project for a period of up to nine months. Up to four team scholarships, each of up to 20,000 euros, are awarded per year, making a total of up to 80,000 euros annually. The annual release of the funds requires a resolution by the allocation committee.
The payout is made in four instalments and is dependent on project progress, programme participation CLOSEUP Bremen and tied to attendance of the workshops. Project progress is certified to nordmedia by the respective supervising experts. If a project is discontinued, the entitlement to payment of any outstanding instalments is forfeited. Further details will be governed by the individual contracts to be drawn up with nordmedia.

CLOSEUP Bremen is a programme for media professionals in the greater Bremen area who are carrying out their project in the region with local experts. The accompanying workshops and events also take place in the state of Bremen.
Requirements of the scholarship holders
The fellowship is open to media professionals from all over Germany. However, preference is given to project teams that are already resident in Bremen and can implement their project locally.
Up to four team grants are awarded annually. The teams are expected to work on the further development of their project for a specified period of a maximum of nine months while maintaining exchange and communication with the experts. The teams' willingness to present their project progress and to participate in the workshops offered and conducted by nordmedia as part of the programme is compulsory.
