For the fourth time, nordmedia, together with the Senator for Economics, Labour and Europe, has announced a special young talent scholarship for media formats: CLOSEUP Bremen aims to support teams that want to implement innovative multimedia ideas.
The call for entries was aimed at young media professionals, journalists, programmers, students, career changers and creatives. Prerequisite: It must be possible to implement the project within 9 months and it must demonstrate a lasting connection to Bremen.
The nominated projects will receive support from mentors, individual coaching, and year-long workshops for further training. The projects will receive a total of 80,000 euros in financial funding.
This year, we also provided the winners with a co-working office in the Creative Hub so they could network with the community and further advance their vision through our offering.
“Diversity, sustainability and innovation – the new cohort's unusual and highly creative projects impressively reflect this triad of values. We would like to thank the jury for their successful selection. Both the format and the content of the teams and their ideas capture the zeitgeist, and we are very much looking forward to the new CLOSEUP fellows., so Thomas Schäffer, Managing Director of nordmedia.
Out of around 30 applications, the jury selected four particularly exciting projects: alongside Julian Hölscher and Thomas Werner (Vivid Canvas), as well as Nils Fricke and Jonas Hummel (Zircula Studio), two projects from Visionskultur also won this fantastic scholarship.
Team „Neele Power“ is documenting a very special journey to starting a business: Neele Buchholz wants to set up on her own as an actress and dancer. The unique aspect: she has Down's syndrome. Her team is documenting her journey and developing a platform on which explanatory videos are published step by step. These are intended to help a broad target group engage with the topic. Much of the content is written in easy-read language.
„The cinematic portrayal of Neele's life journey can and should inspire courage. The planned tutorials will be designed both as practical life aids and as a guide (...).“ – Dr Barbara Schieferstein, Bremerhaven Investment Promotion and Urban Development Corporation

The „walkfluencer“ team will develop city tours with augmented reality elements over the next nine months. These tours aim to support urban development and make Bremen more attractive – not just for tourists, but especially for local residents. The intention is to enable people to rediscover their own city in an innovative, entertaining way. Regional institutions and businesses can also be showcased in the app through the integration of product placement, event information and promotions.
„With their project walkfluencer, Laura Wehhofer and Anton Lüdecke are taking on already familiar technologies with the aim of making them accessible to a broader audience and thus „revolutionising urban experiences“. The result is an innovative concept designed to make places in public spaces newly experienceable through audiovisual storytelling. In doing so, walkfluencer tackles multiple problems at once. For me, the project stands out above all because the idea relies on something very wonderful that lies within almost everyone: the curiosity and sense of adventure to discover new things.“ – Eva Koball, bremen digitalmedia and juror for the CLOSEUP Bremen 2022 programme
„Whether interactive art education, lived inclusion, participatory sustainability or visionary city marketing, the winners of the fellowship call for applications demonstrate what great potential we have in Bremen. Through CLOSEUP, we are actively supporting this scene in Bremen, while also enriching it in a creative way by providing access to networks or personal coaching in the Creative Hub, – Kristina Vogt, Senator for Economics, Labour and Europe.
Visionskultur sends its warmest congratulations and thanks nordmedia and Carmen Wetzel for the fantastic cooperation. We are looking forward to the implementation of the project ideas!
We look forward to continuing to contribute together to the further development and promotion of Bremen's creative industries in the future – through collaborations, the guidance and support of young, creative projects, urban development processes, and the provision of spaces and networks.
