"Virus X Human" - Science and art in dialogue at the Stiftungshaus Bremen

On 05 November, as part of the cooperation format Vision Culture X Foundation House an inspiring event that combined science and art. Together with curator Heike Seyffarth, the Stiftungshaus and Visionskultur organised an event that was made possible thanks to the support of the Senator for Economics, Ports and Transformation, Gewoba and the European Social Fund.

Under the title "Virus X Human" was all about the interactions between molecular biology and art - complemented by exciting start-up impulses and plenty of space for dialogue and networking.

Welcome and introduction

The event was opened by welcoming remarks from Dr Christine BackhausManaging Director of the Foundation House, and Nayra Klöpper, third-party funding and stakeholder management of vision culture. Both emphasised the importance of cooperation and interdisciplinary exchange in order to promote innovative approaches to art, science and entrepreneurship.

Subsequently Prof Sebastian Springer from Constructor University Bremen took the floor. In his introductory speech, he provided fascinating insights into research into molecular immunology and the creative collaboration with the artist Heike Seyffarth. Together they have translated scientific content into an impressive artistic form that is also understandable and visually tangible for laypeople.

The art exhibition "Virus X Human"

With personal words Heike Seyffarth your exhibition "Virus X Human"who deals with the combination of molecular biology research and artistic expression. Her works translate complex scientific processes, such as those found in immunology, into creative representations that are both thought-provoking and aesthetically impressive. The exhibition generated many intensive discussions and reflections among the visitors.

The event also focussed on two exciting keynote speeches from the vision culture community.

Heiko Ahrens - Bremer Maker

The first lecture was given by Heiko Ahrens who had his start-up project Bremen Maker presented. Ahrens specialises in imparting knowledge and skills in the field of digital manufacturing. He offers workshops, seminars and lectures for various target groups - from private individuals to companies. His expertise in folding theory and applied folding, which he uses both technically and artistically, is particularly impressive. His approach shows how traditional craftsmanship and modern technologies can be combined to develop creative solutions. Information on the homepage: Bremen Maker

Hüseyin Özgün Gönüllü - GRIDesign

The second impulse came from Hüseyin Özgün Gönüllüwho is realising his founding project GRIDesign presented. His focus is on mechanical designs for robotics and related industries, with a particular focus on key sectors such as mechanical engineering, automotive and construction. Gönüllü's work picks up on the "Innovation Strategy 2030 of the State of Bremen" and combines creativity with technological developments. His contribution emphasised how important innovation is for the future viability of regional economic sectors. Further information can be found on the homepage: GRIDesign - creativity and technology combined

Both presentations make it clear how diverse and future-orientated the start-up projects of the vision culture community are.

Exchange and networking

After the presentations, the event turned into an open dialogue. Visitors had the opportunity to talk to the speakers and other guests, make contacts and find out more about the projects. The project tables from Bremen Maker and GRIDesignwhich provided additional information and exciting insights.

Meanwhile, the exhibition by Prof Springer and Heike Seyffarth invited visitors to take an inspiring tour. Here, guests were able to experience the fusion of science and art at first hand and develop their own thoughts on the works.

The co-operation format Vision Culture X Foundation House shows how important such platforms are for dialogue and networking in Bremen. It creates spaces in which community and ideas come together and new impetus is generated.

We are already looking forward to more exciting events in this format and would like to thank the Tönjes-Vagt Foundation for sponsoring the art exhibition and Professor Springer's research, as well as all participants for an inspiring evening!
