Bremen is home to various supra-regional research institutes - especially in the field of environmental research. For example, the internationally recognised MARUM, which stands for fundamental and open-ended research with a responsibility to society, for the benefit of the marine environment and in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. It publishes its quality-tested scientific data and makes it freely accessible.
If we take a closer look at the 15 largest cities in Germany, we find figures that show just how green Bremen really is. According to these figures, there are 44.9 square metres of green space for every inhabitant of Bremen. This makes Bremen the greenest city in Germany - with around 70 per cent more green space per inhabitant.
