Design of environmental container Kattenturm

There is news in our space in Kattenturm!

The recycling container has finally been designed on the outside and now really looks the part!

The artist Leon Louis Bohlsen is part of the „Hier & Door“ project and spent the last week designing the long and front sides of the container.

He is a qualified art therapist and art educator here in Bremen. The artist L. works as a freelance artist in the field of painting and drawing, and working together with an assistant, they worked directly on the container.

Leon and his assistant came up with a concept for the design of the container and opted for a mixture of SketchUp sketches, graphic recording and architectural drawings in shades of grey and accents with various pastel tones. For this, they used acrylic paints, Montana Cans and paint markers.

The aim of the design is to encourage people to stop and think, and to draw attention to climate change and its effects.

In addition to the exterior design of the container, the 5th and 6th classes of the Gymnasium Links der Weser will design mobile walls in January, which will then be set up inside the container. Furthermore, several raised beds based on the urban gardening principle will be planted in spring in cooperation with Jutta Dreyer (Blumenfee KTM) and the Bürgerhaus Obervieland.

Initial feedback from the neighbourhood during the process has been overwhelmingly positive! The style of design invites people to take a closer look.
